Olympic Aquatic Betting Odds For Paris 2024
Swimming is by far the largest subset of the aquatics Olympic betting odds discipline. With 35 gold medals available, diving (8) comprises the majority of the remainder, with artistic swimming, marathon swimming, and water polo each having a pair to win as well. But the odds that follow these Olympic aquatics events range in the dozens depending on the stage of the event. Water polo Olympic odds are the largest selection, with bets similar to a basketball game. Pool events compare to track, where bettors have options on the times, winner, head to heads, and more. As for artistic swimming and marathon swimming, these may find a bet or two available but, it doesn't stray far from there. Regardless, no matter the type of Olympic betting odds for swimming you're looking for, use this page as a guide.
- The USA sits atop the swimming betting odds, as they led in gold, silver, and bronze medals in Tokyo 2020 (2021).
- Hungary dominated water polo winning nine gold medals over 18 Olympics (1932-2008) but finished 5th, 5th, and 3rd the last three.
- Serbia has medaled in four straight water polo matches at the Olympics, winning the last two in 2016 and 2020.
- Marathon swimming began at the 2008 Beijing Olympics and has a fairly spread out medal table despite the Netherland's three golds (of 8).
- Diving has been an Olympic sport since 1904 with China dominating the diving betting odds, winning the last nine "best nation" awards.

A star in the pool, Caeleb Dressel will help represent America in the 2024 Olympic Games. Known for his 100m freestyle, 100m butterfly, and 50m freestyle, Dressel backed out of the limelight in between Olympic Games. Still, those looking to bet on Caeleb Dressel at the Olympics will find many prop bets for Dressel swimming like if he'll break a record, the over-under of his time, and how many gold medals he'll win. It could be another dominant performance from the Americans in the pool this time around with Dressel leading the way.
The most decorated active swimmer for the United States in the 2024 Olympic pool is Katie Ledecky. Her career at the Olympics is one of the main reasons that she is a significant betting favorite with long odds to win two separate freestyle events, while also being competitive in another. The odds for Katie Ledecky at the Olympics show that as the distance of an event increases, she becomes a bigger favorite. Ledecky’s Olympic odds in the 400m freestyle event have her as an underdog at +500, but she is an outright favorite in the 800m with -450 odds and in the 1500 with -5000 odds. Based on her odds, Katie Ledecky is likely to add to her impressive resume that includes six Olympic individual gold medals.

Rules And How To Win Swimming
For swimming, there are four general events, split into sections that vary by length for both men and women. The freestyle competitions let swimmers use any stroke they wish to win the race, with crawls being the usual style. The butterfly competition has athletes rotating both arms simultaneously, making the swimmer look sort of like a dolphin. The breaststroke sees the swimmer breathe after every stroke lifting their head slightly above the water each time. The backstroke competition has swimmers racing with their bellies facing up. There are electronic devices installed in the pools that provide precision timing to see who wins the races. The Olympic betting odds grade when someone touches the wall first in their event.

Water Polo Events
For water polo, the US women have proven themselves, medaling in all six Olympic Games with women's water polo and winning the last three. The men are more of a toss-up; however, you can never count out the Serbian team. Medaling in the last four Olympics (or more if you count Serbia and Montenegro / Yugoslavia), they've won the last two with Hungary and Croatia always at their heels. A Group B winner could be the play, as both Hungary and Serbia are settled there.

Olympic Diving Events
After Swedish divers put on shows in the U.K., interest in the sport peaked and the Amateur Diving Association was formed in 1901. Men's diving joined the Olympic schedule in 1904 St. Louis with the women joining just after (1912). As for Olympic synchronized diving, it made its way into the program at the Sydney Olympic Games in 2000. For 2024, a total of 136 divers, with an equal distribution between men and women will compete at the 2024 Paris Games. National Olympic Committees have their choice of two divers in each of the men's and women's individual events as well as a gender-based pair in the synchronized events. In total, teams must follow an eight per gender country limit and divers must be 14 years old and above on or before December 31, 2023, to compete.

Who Are The Favorites To Win The Gold For Diving?
The diving events are generally won by the US and China. These two countries have earned almost three-fourths of all gold medals in the diving category. Sweden and Russia are the next in line in the total medal count and could play spoiler to the usual champions. Once the Olympic betting odds for diving post, we'll have them listed here.
Rules For Olympic Diving
Diving is a competition that is based on judges’ outlook of each athlete’s dive. They monitor the accuracy of the dive, the difficulty and the splash size as well. Divers either go off 3m high springboards or 10m high platforms depending on their event. The highest and lowest score of the judges is removed, leaving the total score as their mark for that certain dive. The athlete with the highest total at the end wins. Similar to diving, artistic swimming is judged on expression, choreography, technical perfection, and synchronization. Athletes generally must hold their breaths for up to a full minute – though this is not a factor in the judging.
Marathon Swimming Events
With a gold medal for the men and women to win, the two 10 km open-water marathons provide more aquatics betting action at the Olympics. Held at Pont Alexandre III for Paris 2024, marathon swimming continues after being introduced at the Beijing Games in 2008. Though 5-hour long 25km swims happened at the FINA World Swimming Championships in 1991, the first 10km race was at World Champs in 2001. Now taking about two hours to complete, the Olympic 10km open water swims are on back to back days.
- August 8: Women's 10km Open Water Swim
- August 9: Men's 10km Open Water Swim
Olympic Marathon Swimming Odds
Marathon swimming all comes down to the individual. This is one of the harder events to pick a favorite as many variables can change the outcome of the race such as the changing of currents or tidal activity. Once the current odds for Olympic marathon swimming are posted, we'll provide them here. If live betting, really lock in on the last 3km, as this is when swimmers change their pace to cross the finish line first.
- Fun Fact: Oussama Mellouli (Tunisia) is the only gold medalist marathon swimmer to earn a gold medal in a long course pool event (1500m freestyle, Beijing 2008).
Artistic Swimming Events
Held at the Aquatics Centre in 2024, artistic swimming first became an Olympic discipline in 1984 (Los Angeles) but was called synchronized swimming at the time. Flash forward 10 Olympics later, and artistic swimming is the exact same except Paris 2024 will be the first time men compete in the event. With teams able to have up to two males, all 10 NOCs will also select a pair to represent them as a duet.
